The blade, crossguard and pommel are made of layered steel.

For the blade, a piece of 250 layers of hard steel and spring steel was forged, stretched and cut into 2 pieces of the same length, then welded together with a hard steel setting in between. This is the sandwich technique, which makes it possible to have cutting edges in a homogeneous and hard steel once the blade is forged.
