Katzbalger

mid-XVIth century - Germany

Overall length:  93cm

Blade length: 80cm
Weight: 1180 gr

POB: 6.5cm from cross

The "Katzbalger" is a typical weapon of the Landsknechts, armed units from the 15th to the 16th century.
It is a straight sword, light and with a guard more or less rich in elements and details.
This katzbalger is directly inspired by a German example kept at the Dresden museum, some changes have been requested by its current owner.
The sharp blade is both thin and robust, a balance obtained by a good distribution of the material on the blade and in its fullers. The addition of a hollow pommel gives a light and fast weapon, devastating in the cuts.
